| A friend of mine gave me a beautifully wrapped gift for Christmas. I took a photograph of it and was quite enchanted with this practically abstract, sensuous picture. I painted it, and this became the first of a series of ribbon paintings over the years. The generosity of gift giving, the child-like excitement of anticipation, and rhyme with sensuousness of the play of light on a satin ribbon, the feminine curves, the rich colors. I am trying to capture these impressions of harmony and turn them into affirmations of the beauty of life. |
